Does Highlighting damages hair health?

I have beautiful, long %26amp; straight hair. I want to style them but don't want to go for a hair cut. I see highlighting as an option for style change. I want to know whether it has any illeffects on hair health? what will happen when the coloured portion of hair starts fading?Does one needs to regularly do it? Does it damages the natural texture of hair?

Does Highlighting damages hair health?

Yes, it removes pigment from the hair and leaves it dry and damaged.

You should keep up color and highlights, retouching them as often as every four to five weeks.

It can also change curly hair to straighter and straight hair to frizzy.

all hair dyes will damage hair when it starts fading it starts blending to your hair colour till its all natural....i dont really no actually but anyways i get 2 points =]

Does Highlighting damages hair health?

it all depends on the stylist. it doesn't really damage the hair unless it is overprocessed(left in too long) or done over and over and over. but when you do get regrowth it is kind of needed to go back in and get a retouch. or you can always go back to your natural color afterwards. but all in all it isn't damaging at all especially if its your first time.
