Its your hair.. cut it. Tell them that its what you want and what you will feel comfortable in and long hair makes you feel ungly and its hurting your self-esteem, be intense but not too overboard. Let them sympathize, but all in all its your hair you should be allowed to cut it and deal with the concequences if/when it comes. If when you cut it you don't like it, it will grow back.

You can do loads with short hair, just cut it, not much they can do if it's already cut!!

If you are over 18 you have the right to cut your hair. Under 18, you probably need to just listen to them.. Bargain with them that you will grow it back, something like that

How old are you? It's your hair, do what you want. My daughter is 7 and she wanted her hair long. I wanted it shorter. I told it was her hair and her decision. SHE'S 7!

If you're old enough to pay for a haircut, you're old enough to pick out what the haircut is. So get the money, and set the appointment, and tell them if you don't like it, you won't complain.

Failing that, tell them you want to shave your head like Natalie Portman did for V for Vendetta. They'll be happy with 40 cm after that!!!! ;-)

Tell them that you'll study for like 5 days straight. Better grades + short pretty hair = happiness...

It worked with my parents :)

Hope that helps.

Its your hair and you should be allowed to wear it as you choose. Donate the cut hair to Locks of Love, which is for cancer survivors who have lost their hair. Their are many cute styles for short hair and so practical. Good luck !!

Tell your parents youd like to donate it to "locks of love" to make a wig for cancer patients. then mention bald little girls...and guilt them into it. ..but really do donate your hair!!..if you have enough

Tell them that you are now whatever age your are and feel that is old enough to make decisions regarding hair styles.

Especially if you are choosing a style that is normal or typical for girls your age.

If they disagree with you, then ask them at what age or circumstances will it be ok for you to make you own decisions.

Generally parents do not force that type of thing, but if they do you will simply have to wait.

Get infected with head lice - then you'll have no option but to cut your hair

I went through this with my father. He forbade me to cut my hair shorter than my shoulder blades, but I won in the end (I was 12 at the time.) Here's how:

My mom took me to the salon, and we got pictures of hairstyles from them that were shoulder length or shorter, but still feminine and youthful enough for my age. Then I took them home to show my father. While he wasn't crazy about the idea, he did pick the one that he liked the best. So he still got a say in my hair for length and style, but I set the boundaries.

Today, you have it easier. There are several on line virtual make over sites that will allow you to look at hairstyles and try them on before you make any changes. Upload your picture to one or more of them, and pick the styles you like best. Then show the pictures to your parents. Ask them which one they like best. 40cm or so still gives you plenty of length to work with.

Maybe offer a compromise to start with, like taking 10cm off at a time. They might adjust better to a gradual cut than all at once. Try to find pictures of styles that fit both your face shape, age range, hair type, and hair length.

When you bring it up to them, or show them the pictures, explain why you want shorter hair. Include things like ease of care, less time spent to get ready, cooler in the warmer weather, etc... Then explain why you don't like having long hair, too long to dry, too much work, too much hair for many styles, too heavy to hold fancy updos, curls, and other things. Then have some pictures ready of shorter hair done in many different styles, like the updos and curls.

Make sure to include them in the process of choosing a style. They are more likely to see your side if you show that you respect their opinions and views. You should also remember that as long as you live with them, you have to abide by their rules, so don't go on your own to get a cut. Not only would you get in trouble, they will also be less likely to let you keep the style, or ever consider letting you get it done again. The more you involve them, the more you respect them, the more they will listen and consider your desire of short hair.
